The Hon. Vijitha Herath, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, expressed his deepest condolences to the Government and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the passing of His Eminence Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
During a visit to the residence of H.E. Dr. Alireza Delkhosh, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Sri Lanka, the Sri Lankan Foreign Minister signed the condolence book and conveyed his sympathies in person.
On the same occasion, Minister Herath also shared a message on his official X account, stating: “Our bilateral ties broadened significantly under his tenure. Sri Lanka remains appreciative of Iran's friendship. Our thoughts are with the Iranian people.”
The gesture reflects the longstanding and friendly relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Sri Lanka, as well as the solidarity of the Sri Lankan leadership with the Iranian nation during this time of mourning.
